Even though we’re constantly growing and developing, we stick to flat hierarchies and work with the concept of self-leadership.
In 2010, Philipp Benkler started a finance internship in China, where rigid hierarchies stifled his impact. This inspired him to envision a company that valued every employee's contributions. Reconnecting with college friend Georg Hansbauer in Munich, they brainstormed a business that could integrate crowdsourcing in digital testing. Georg, a freelancer experienced with early tech's testing challenges, proposed a crowdtesting platform.
This idea was timely, leveraging the burgeoning digital and crowdsourcing tech to connect developers directly with testers worldwide. They envisioned using diverse, real-world testers to enhance digital products, tailoring the testing groups to reflect precise customer demographics.
Quickly, the concept evolved into a business plan with Markus Steinhauser joining for his marketing expertise. The trio developed Testbirds, starting with tester feedback to refine their platform, The Nest. Their efforts, initially supported by a German federal scholarship and startup competition, soon attracted investors and clients, highlighting crowdtesting's potential.
Testbirds grew into a major player with a global tester base and offices across Europe, continually innovating in QA and UX solutions. Their platform, The Nest, helps integrate user feedback directly into product development, improving digital experiences worldwide.
